Mentoring 4 Screen

Bectu Cymru – Mentoring 4 Screen

Bectu Cymru is recruiting mentors and mentees to take part in an exciting new programme aimed at creatives working in craft, technical and production roles in Wales’ TV and Film industry.

“We are delighted to be working with Screen Skills on our new ‘Mentoring 4 Screen’ programme” stated Siân Gale, Bectu Cymru’s Skills and Development Manager. “Many of our members, who work behind the scenes in the Screen Sector, are mainly casual/freelance workers and often miss out on valuable opportunities to participate in a mentoring relationship with more experienced colleagues who can support them to develop and progress in what can be a rewarding but precarious industry to work in”.

Those who are at the pinnacle of their careers are keen to be involved in the programme too:

“I was incredibly fortunate to have the support of a mentor during my career and feel very passionate about the opportunities mentoring and training can provide in helping to inspire the emerging creative talent in Wales” says Dylan Richards a Multi-Award winning Documentary and Drama Director who is currently a mentor with Screen Skills.

Bectu’s ‘Mentoring 4 Screen’ programme is supported by ScreenSkills, the industry-led skills body for the UK’s screen industries, using National Lottery funds awarded by the BFI as part of the Future Film Skills programme.  Support in kind is provided through the Welsh Government’s Wales Union Learning Fund  via the joint-union CULT Cymru project.
